911 Service Disrupted For Some Indiana Counties

Last updated on Thursday, April 10, 2014

(UNDATED) - A statewide issue affected 911 service in several Indiana counties Wednesday.

Hamilton, Madison, Johnson and Morgan counties all reported a disruption with their 911 phone lines. Non-emergency dispatch numbers were not answered in those counties.

"Emergency calls in a limited number of counties surrounding Indianapolis are being temporarily rerouted to nearby 911 agencies. We are investigating the cause of the outage. We apologize for this inconvenience," said AT&T spokesman Jim Kimberly.

Shelby, Boone and Hancock counties experienced outages Wednesday morning as well, but all reported they were back up and running by noon.

In the affected counties, 911 calls were routed to other 911 dispatch centers. That plan was laid out in an emergency plan that has been in place for some time.
