Woman's Body Found In Trunk

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Lawrence police are investigating a homicide after a body was found Sunday afternoon at Maison Gardens Apartments.

Police were alerted about a body that had been found next to a dumpster at the apartments, formerly known as Pinnacle Square, at around 5 p.m. Sunday. The apartments are located just west of the intersection of East 42nd Street and Post Road.

Police said a security guard found the body inside a wood chest. The chest was described as being 4'6" long and having a leather-covered lid. Its manufacturer is Lane.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Jazmine Trammell of Indianapolis. She was last seen by her family Sunday at 9 a.m.

Police said they do not believe Trammell was killed at the apartment complex.

According to Lawrence Police Department investigators, Trammell was stabbed to death.
