Woman To Perform Special Public Appearance For Reduced Sentence

Last updated on Friday, March 21, 2014

(WINSLOW) - A Winslow woman is set to have her jail sentence cut in half— if she makes a special public appearance today.

The Pike County prosecutor says Jennifer Gist must wear a sandwich-style sign in front of the Pike County Courthouse, informing the public about the dangers of failing to supervise young children.

Gist admitted that she had failed to follow a Department of Child Services safety plan, which had been put in place after her two small kids were found playing on railroad tracks.

Gist pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent and received a sentence of 20 weekends in jail, probation and community service.
