(GREENWOOD) - Trial for a Greenwood High School teacher accused of having sex with a student has been set for May.
Timothy Guilfoy, 36, made his first court appearance Wednesday morning. He was caught in the act on Saturday in a truck in a parking lot with a 17-year-old girl, according to police. Guilfoy was charged with child seduction.
"It's upsetting when a person in a position of trust takes advantage of that position for his own benefit, sexual benefit, and the black eye it gives all the great teachers who got to work with the idea of taking care of the students rather than the alternative," said Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Eric Schmadeke.
Guilfoy resigned from his position as a physical education teacher and coach of the girls golf team.
