Cooper, who is 18, was arrested for child cruelty and aggravated mayhem. Doctor's believe the baby boy also suffered head trauma.

According to The Sacramento Bee, police received a frantic call from a woman Thursday morning, claiming her infant was badly bleeding. When police arrived, they found the baby with a bloody face.

KTXL reports a woman claiming to be a relative said it was all an accident, and Cooper is not a monster. Neighbors in the area say they are shocked by the news.

"It's terrible. It's terrible. I'm literally heartbroken. I can't believe it."

The infant is said to be in stable condition and has now been placed in the custody of child services.
