(VANDERBURGH CO.) - Ira Beumer, the Vanderburgh County home owner accused of murder, has plead guilty to criminal recklessness, a Class C Felony.

This is according to the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office.

Beumer was originally charged with murder after authorities say he caused a deadly crash after chasing suspects in a home invasion in 2012.

Beumer told authorities he thought the suspects had kidnapped his daughter.

The high-profile trial for Beumer began on Monday.

The four surviving suspects accused of breaking into Beumer's home have been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges related to the case.

The Prosecutor's Office says Beumer faces up to 8 years. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 23.
