Indiana Man Among Dozens Arrested In International Child Porn Investigation

Last updated on Wednesday, March 19, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indiana man is among more than a dozen men arrested in connection with an international child pornography investigation, officials announced Tuesday.

29-year-old Andrew Korpal of Granger, Ind. has been charged with receipt of child pornography.

In all, federal investigators said they have arrested 14 men and have identified 251 child victims across 39 U.S. states and five foreign countries.

At least five of the victims are from Indiana, officials said.

Investigators say teenage boys were duped into using their computers to impress young girls by sharing sexually explicit content, but the "girls" on the other end were really men who then shared the content.

Investigators say the website containing the child exploitation was in operation between June 2012 and June 2013 and contained more than 2,000 videos and had more than 27,000 members.

The website's primary administrator, 27-year-old Jonathan Johnson of Abita Springs, La., has been in federal custody since his June arrest.

Investigators said Johnson admitted to creating multiple fake female personas on social networks to target and sexually exploit children.

More than 300 investigations have been opened into potential subscribers of the website, including 150 in the United States and 150 overseas.

Investigators said they expect more arrests and the identification of more victims as they analyze more than 40 terabytes of data seized.
