Indiana Excise Police Cite Bar After Receiving More Than 100 Calls

(MICHIGAN CITY) - Excise police busted a Michigan City bar early Sunday morning after receiving more than 100 calls about it. Reilly’s Bar is facing more than a dozen charges and six people were arrested during the investigation.

According to police, Reilly's Bar was cited for allowing a minor to loiter, sale of alcohol to a minor, being a public nuisance and failure to maintain a high and fine reputation as a result of information relating to previous incidents.

The bar was also cited for having an unlicensed employee, failing to maintain employee permit records, sale of alcohol to a minor, allowing a minor to loiter, sale of alcohol to an intoxicated patron, being a public nuisance, hindering enforcement of the Alcoholic Beverage Code, misbranding alcoholic beverages and various gaming violations as a result of last night's investigation.

The following people were arrested at the bar:

Dontarius Garrett, 24, of Michigan City, was arrested on warrants in La Porte County and Michigan City and a preliminary charge of resisting arrest.

Darnell Crawford, 35, of Michigan City, was arrested on a preliminary charge of false informing after giving officers various names and dates of birth. He also was arrested on a La Porte County warrant.

Lawrence Thompkins, 41, of Michigan City, was arrested on a Michigan City warrant.

Donald Webb II, 33, of Michigan City, was arrested on preliminary charges of battery on law enforcement and resisting arrest.

Two girls, ages 19 and 20, were also cited on preliminary charges of being a minor in a tavern and illegal consumption of alcohol.

Excise police said they received 134 calls for service regarding the bar in the past year.
