(UNDATED) - Law enforcement agencies, the State Police, and county Sheriffs departments across the state have been reporting hazardous driving conditions on both urban, and suburban roadways.
They also urge caution in less built-up areas, where the wind has blown drifting snow.
The snow has begun falling in Central Indiana. In the 7:00 hour, the Indianapolis area had received a bit less than an inch of snow.
To the north, in Lafayette, the National Weather Service reports about three inches at the 7:00 hour.
South of the Capitol City, the wintry mix had not changed over from rain/sleet to snow.
Hoosiers may be scratching their heads over the record amounts of snow that has fallen on the state this winter.
The National Weather Service says so far this winter, Central Indiana has gotten 52.3 inches of snow. That breaks a previous record of about 50 inches for the months of December, January and February.
