(KNOX COUNTY) - An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was seriously injured in a mini-bike crash in Bicknell.

Indiana State Police say the crash happened Friday afternoon when the girl was riding her mini-bike in a vacant lot near the 900 block of West Fourth Street. She lost control of the bike and crossed a sidewalk before going airborne and landing in the street, continuing out of control and crashing into a parked SUV.

The girl was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, but she was later flown via medical helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville where she remained hospitalized in serious condition.

Police said the girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
