Federal Financial Aid Deadline Five Days Away

Last updated on Wednesday, March 5, 2014

(UNDATED) - Only five days remain for Hoosier students to complete the federal form that could reduce next year’s college costs.

The deadline to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is March 10. Most colleges use FAFSA to determine how much financial aid a student will receive for the following school year.

"Every student attending college should complete the FAFSA - there's no penalty if you don't qualify for aid, and not completing the form could mean leaving financial-aid money on the table," said Tom Faulconer, financial coach and father of a college student himself.

Because Indiana has a high home-ownership rate and reasonable household income compared to the nation as a whole, Hoosier college-bound students have a good chance for receiving financial aid.

Faulconer has provided some tips for completing the FASFA and a link to the online form at www.familyfinancialadv.com/get-ready-for-fafsa
