E-Book Buyers To Get Partial Credit For Books

Last updated on Thursday, March 27, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Barnes & Noble and Amazon both sent emails to customers on Tuesday, telling them about the partial credit they’ll get on e-books they bought.

It's part of a $166 million anti-trust settlement that affects Nook and Kindle customers who bought e-books through online retailers.

A couple of years ago, 33 states including Indiana filed suit against five publishing companies for price-fixing.

About 370,000 Hoosier e-book buyers will receive more than $2.6 million.

Amazon and other retailers are just facilitating the settlement. But a federal judge ruled Apple worked with the publishers to inflate the prices of e-books. Apple is appealing the ruling.
