(SPEEDWAY) - A group of Speedway residents were allowed to return to their homes after a mysterious white powder was found in the air duct of an apartment building Friday evening.

Police said they were called to the complex in the 2500 block of Parkwood Drive just before 7 p.m. on reports of a domestic disturbance.

When authorities arrived to the scene, two people fighting told officers they couldn't breathe. That is when medics found about one pound of the suspicious substance in an air duct.

The substance tested negative for drugs or explosives at the scene, but police were conducting additional tests at headquarters.

Residents were given the all-clear to return back inside.
