Last updated on Wednesday, February 12, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An overnight chase led to gunfire overnight between officers and a shooter on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

An officer tried to pull over a black pickup truck. Police said the driver of the vehicle refused to stop, leading the officer on a short chase that ended in the 4300 block of West Bradbury Avenue at a dead-end drive near Wayne Township Firehouse #81.

IMPD said one of the three people in the truck got out and began to shoot at the officers, with some gunfire damaging a police vehicle. The officers reportedly shot back, hitting the man three times.

No officers were hurt in the exchange. The shooter was taken to Eskenazi Health in critical condition.

Two people in the vehicle were taken into custody.
