Moms Urge Facebook and Instagram To Get Out Of Gun Business

Last updated on Tuesday, February 25, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A group of Indiana-based moms is taking on Facebook and Instagram.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense says it has entered into formal talks with Facebook to ban gun sales and trades on the social media platform which also owns Instagram. This follows the indictment of an Ohio man last week for illegally selling a gun across state lines to a 15-year-old buyer.

MDAGS says the pair connected via Facebook. The buyer later took the gun to his high school's homecoming football game in Kentucky.

This also follows the arrest of a felon in Iowa who allegedly got a gun on Facebook from an undercover cop.

MDAGS Founder Shannon Watts says American moms are Facebook's number one demographic and moms don't want guns bought and sold on the same site that hosts family photos.
