Last updated on Tuesday, February 4, 2014

(JOHNSON CO.) - Johnson County authorities arrested an 18-year-old man after he allegedly attacked a fellow student at Job Corp.

Sheriff Doug Cox says Tyler Stephenson of Fort Wayne punched and slammed the head of 19-year-old Jacob Shubert on to the floor. According to investigators, Shubert threw a paper throwing star at Stephenson, who refused to give it back. When Shubert called Stephenson a name, the alleged attack began.

Investigators say Stephenson punched Shubert four or five times before bashing his head on to the floor. According to the incident report, Shubert suffered a knot on his forehead, a swollen left eye and a gash on the back of his head. Stephenson suffered an injury to his hand. Police add that Shubert was not able to hit Stephenson back.

As Stephenson was speaking to authorities, he told them that he just wanted to go home and he knew that if he got in trouble, he'd be kicked out of the Job Corp. program.

Stephenson was booked in the Johnson County Jail on $1,000 bond. He is facing a preliminary charge of battery with injury.
