(MORGAN CO.) - Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Dan Hearon began an investigation into a large auto theft ring that spanned over northern Morgan, Hendricks and Marion counties.
The in-depth investigation revealed information on several possible suspects and several "chop shops", or facilities where stolen vehicles are taken, disassembled and then sold off piece by piece.
It was discovered that several of the stolen vehicles were being parted out, sold off, the remaining metal then burned and sold as scrap.
To date, S/Trp. Hearon has located and shut down three of the "chop shops".
These were located on County Road 675 West in Monrovia, SR 67 in Indianapolis and Ingalls Drive in Indianapolis.
He has recovered a total of seven stolen automobiles that were still intact.
In addition, there have been multiple engines and various auto parts recovered that had previously been removed from other stolen vehicles.
A stolen gun and many stolen tools from burglaries in the Indianapolis area have also been recovered from the "chop shops" and vehicles.
ISP has arrested four suspects throughout this investigation for various criminal offenses such as possessing stolen automobiles and property. The investigation has also led to the solving of various burglaries and thefts in multiple jurisdictions.
Arrested were
* Daniel Beverstock, 54, of Martinsville, on a charge of possession of stolen vehicle.
* Christopher Morgan, 34, of Indianapolis, on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.
* Chad Gooch, Indianapolis, possession of a stolen vehicle.
* Joshua C. Argue, 29, Monrovia, possession of stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property.
This investigation is on-going and more arrests are expected.

Senior Trooper Hearon was assisted by several agencies, including the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department, the Plainfield Police Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, gathering leads and information that ultimately led to several felony arrests.
