(EVANSVILLE) - An Evansville man is in jail after police say he assaulted a woman he had just met on an online dating website.
Police arrested 25-year-old Michael Charles after the victims identified him in a police lineup.
Police say the victim met Charles on a dating website.
Police say she and a friend went to Charles' house and the victim had consensual sex with him. Police say Charles then demanded the women leave and hit the victim several times, grabbing her by the throat and throwing her out.
Police say he also fired a shot at her as she ran away. Police say he admitted to firing the shotgun to scare them off, but did not aim at them.
He's in the Vanderburgh County Jail on several charges, including battery and criminal recklessness.
