(UNDATED) - An escaped convicted murderer from Michigan is believed to be in Indiana.

40-year-old Michael Elliot escaped from the Ionia Correctional Facility Sunday.

Authorities say Elliot likely carjacked an older woman and then drove with her for more than two hours to Elkhart County, Indiana.

The woman got away from Elliot at a gas station. Elliot took off in the woman's red 2004 Jeep Liberty.
