BMV Responds To New Allegations

Last updated on Tuesday, February 25, 2014

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is speaking out against new allegations it overcharged Hoosiers drivers for numerous services.

In a written statement, Commissioner Don Snemis says the BMV has already issued credits that were "arguably due" to Hoosiers. This after a court settlement last August in which the BMV agreed to refund $30 million for overcharges on driver's licenses.

The latest allegations involve a class action suit seeking refunds for alleged overcharges on vehicle registrations and other services. However, Snemis says they disagree with the latest charges and only class action attorneys will benefit at the cost of taxpayers.

He says the BMV will appeal the matter if need be.
