Woman Crashes Car Into Trees On I-65

(DEMOTTE) - A Demotte, Indiana woman was injured Tuesday when her car went airborne and crashed into a tree line on Interstate 65.

The crash was reported just before 8 a.m. on I-65 in northern Indiana when a woman driving a 2008 Mazda lost control of her car and hit a ditch. The force of the crash propelled the car into the trees, police said.

The driver, 44-year-old Bridget Birzek was taken to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Crown Point with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said she was wearing a seat belt.

According to the police report, the roadway was dry.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
