Winter Weather Advisory In Effect Saturday

Last updated on Saturday, January 25, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Much of Indiana is under a winter weather advisory for today.

Another clipper system is crossing the state and expected to drop two to three inches of new snow on East Central Indiana through Saturday morning.

Strong sustained winds of more than 20 mph and gusts of more than 40 mph will cause blowing and drifting on roadways, lowering visibility and making driving difficult in potentially white-out conditions.

INDOT currently has yellow trucks on patrol, plowing back areas of blowing and drifting and making room for more snow. Additional crews will be called in ahead of anticipated snowfall and will plow and treat interstates, U.S. highways and state routes as needed to keep the roads as safe as possible during winter weather.

Cold temperatures and periods of snowfall are expected to continue for several days and into next week.

Motorists should be aware of local developing forecasts and be prepared for weather conditions before driving
