(FLAGSTAFF, AZ) - The U.S. Supreme Court won’t review the case of an Indiana man convicted of child abuse for forcing his grandsons on a grueling hike in the Grand Canyon.
The high court on Monday rejected the petition from Christopher Carlson of Indianapolis.
The 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had rejected Carlson's argument that the evidence wasn't sufficient to convict him on three counts of child abuse and that the jury wasn't properly instructed.
The charges stem from a 19-mile hike with his three grandsons in August 2011.
He was acquitted of charges related to another hike earlier that month.
Carlson says he treated the boys roughly but denies being criminally negligent or endangering them. He served more than two years in prison.
