(PLAINFIELD) - An officer with the Plainfield Correctional Facility was arrested after police said he attempted to sneak marijuana and tobacco into the jail.
James Thomas was arrested last Friday on charges of trafficking, a Class C felony, and dealing in marijuana, a Class D felony.
Authorities said officers found approximately 69 grams of marijuana and 193 grams of tobacco hidden inside a bowl of frozen food.
Thomas was transported to the Hendricks County Jail and placed under emergency suspension without pay.
Thomas was hired at the facility in March 2012.
