Last updated on Saturday, January 25, 2014

(MARION COUNTY) - An Indianapolis mother and daughter who died in an Eastside fire have been identified but the cause of the blaze is still undetermined.

The Marion County coroner's office identified the mother as Nora Martinez and her daughter as Izel Ramirez. Their ages were not immediately available, and a determination of the cause of their deaths is awaiting toxicology results.

Fire officials said they still don't know what caused the fire Thursday morning, however, they did say a smoke detector was in place but was missing a battery.

The home was being rented by a family of five but two other children were at school and the father was at work.
