(INDIANAPOLIS) - A barricaded man was shot and killed by police on Tuesday after he pointed a gun at officers, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said.

It happened at Turtle Creek apartments near 86th Street and Harcourt Road.

IMPD officials said police were at the apartment complex because the man said he was going to kill himself. Police negotiated with him for about an hour.

Around 11 a.m., IMPD officials said the man pointed a gun at officers. As a result, officers fired at him and he was hit.

The man was taken to St. Vincent Hospital. Police say the man has died.
