Johnson County Father and Son Arrested By U.S. Marshals

(NINEVEH) - A Johnson County father and son were arrested Thursday after a scuffle with law enforcement.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says that one of his deputies and two agents from the U.S. Marshal's Service went to a home in Nineveh with a warrant for the arrest of 23-year-old Christopher Cunningham. When they arrived at the home, the suspect's father, 49-year-old David Cunningham told authorities that his son was not there.

As authorities were attempting to enter the home, they allege that David Cunningham punched one of the agents. That same agent suffered a cut thumb before the father was finally subdued.

After authorities had the father in custody, they attempted to speak with Christopher Cunningham through a garage service door. He eventually appeared before authorities, but was tazed after allegedly refusing commands to keep his hands above his head. As authorities were attempting to apprehend the younger Cunningham, one agent was kicked by the suspect, resulting in a severe knee injury.

Both Cunninghams were transported to the Johnson County Jail. David Cunningham is facing two counts of resisting law enforcement and two counts of battery of an officer resulting in injury. Christopher Cunningham is facing charges of resisting law enforcement, battery of an officer resulting in injury and parole violation.He is being held with no bond.
