(VIGO CO.) - A Sunday evening crash involving an Indiana State Police Trooper leads to one injury.

The crash happened Sunday evening near the 12 mile marker on I-70 in Vigo County.

Officials say Trooper Mike Finny was in the passing lane with his emergency lights activated, helping a stranded driver.

A semi truck driven by David Fait from Dover, Ohio could not stop or slow in time and veered into the median to avoid hitting the trooper's patrol car and the stranded driver.

A second semi driven by Bakary Kourouma from New York, New York also failed to slow or stop.

That's when he hit the trooper's car, along with the trailer from Fait's semi.

Kourouma was trapped in his truck and had to be extricated by the Riley Fire Department.

Kourouma was transported to Regional Hospital for treatment of possible fractures.

No other injuries were reported.

Kourouma was cited for reckless driving.

Interstate 70 was closed until about 1:00 early Monday morning
