(UNDATED) - The new session of the Indiana General Assembly has begun and with it, competing interests for legislative action from various groups and associations.

June Miles is the State Director for the American Association for Retired People (AARP). AARP represents Hoosiers in the 50-plus age group.

Miles says that means there at 830,000 members who look to her organization to keep their best interests and concerns at the forefront of legislative activity and lobbying.

A primary concern of AARP members, she says is the financial challenges that come from reaching, or nearing, retirement age: Will they have enough money to comfortably retire, without being a burden on their families?

Helping Hoosiers sort out how to better-save for retirement is one of the issues AARP will be focusing on during the current legislative session.
