State Trooper's Car Spins Out Of Control Plowing Into Another Cruiser

Last updated on Friday, December 20, 2013

(MERRILLVILLE) - State police say a car spun out of control on a northwestern Indiana highway and plowed into a trooper’s parked cruiser.

Police say Trooper Brandon Henderson stopped about 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the scene on Interstate 65 in Merrillville where a pickup truck had hit a slick spot and crashed into the highway's guardrail.

Henderson parked his cruiser behind the truck with its emergency lights on and was out talking with the driver when a car also lost control on the slick road. That car slammed into the trooper's car and pushed it into the wrecked truck.

Police say the trooper and the pickup truck driver weren't hurt, while the car driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The trooper's cruiser was totaled in the crash.
