TSA Precheck Enrollment Opens At Indianapolis Airport

Last updated on Thursday, December 5, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The government says Indianapolis International Airport will have the first enrollment site for an expedited screening program that allows airline passengers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belts and keep laptop computers in cases at security checkpoints.

The Transportation Security Administration opened the Precheck enrollment site Wednesday at the airport. Enrollees must provide identification, fingerprints and an $85 enrollment fee.

Until now, passengers have only been eligible for expedited screening through existing programs such as U.S. Custom and Border Protection's Global Entry program and some frequent flier programs.

TSA said it expects to open application centers in New York, Washington and Los Angeles by the end of the year. The agency said it plans to eventually expand it to more than 300 U.S. locations.
