(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police have issued an alert for a stolen pizza delivery car after robbers arranged an ambush in northeast Indianapolis.

RTV6 reports that the crime happened with a call to the Domino's Pizza on East 38th Street at Central Avenue, when the robber pretended to place a pizza order to a nearby address.

Police said the male caller specifically asked that his order not be delivered by a man. He described a female he had seen working at the store in the past, and asked that she be the one sent with his delivery.

The order was instead assigned to a 42-year-old male employee, who arrived at the address given by the caller and was quickly ambushed.

The driver told police two men were waiting in a car near that home on North Dearborn Street around 37th Street. They rushed the driver and ordered him onto the ground before taking his pizzas and the cash from his deliveries.

Police said the men then reached into the driver's pockets and took his personal cash as well, tossing his wallet onto the ground after emptying it.

One of the men then jumped into his Buick and sped off, leaving him standing outside the home.

The victim hitched a ride to get back to the Domino's store, where he called police early Thanksgiving morning.

A manager there called it "unfortunate" but declined to tell the Call 6 Investigators whether the victim was back at work after the attack.

Police said store workers reviewed their order histories and caller ID to provide detectives with the phone number that was used to place the phony order, but no arrests were reported.
