Nominations Sought For State's Trails Advisory Board

Last updated on Wednesday, December 4, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The DNR is seeking nominations to for five openings on the state’s Trails Advisory Board (TAB) for 2014.

Nominees must be involved with a trails-oriented organization that represents one of the following user groups: environmental groups, hikers, mountain bikers, trail support groups, and users with disabilities.

Board members are expected to serve a three-year term.

The 15-member TAB advises DNR Director Cameron F. Clark on trails-related issues. Having a TAB is also required for the state to receive funding from the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration. The state uses these funds to acquire and develop multi-use trails for both motorized and non-motorized use.

Nominations and letters of support will be accepted by the DNR Division of Outdoor Recreation through Jan. 6, 2014.

To receive a nomination form or learn more about the board, see dnr.IN.gov/outdoor and click on "trails" and then "trails advisory board."
