ISP Traffic Stop Finds Man Wanted By Homeland Security

(PUTNAM CO.) - An Indiana State Trooper stopped a black Nissan SUV on Sunday afternoon in Putnam County along Interstate 70 for following too closely.

During the traffic stop, the front seat passenger identified himself with an expired Guatemalan identification card. A routine computer check revealed the man was wanted on an active felony immigration warrant.

The man found to be Mario Arturo Lucas Ramos, age 42, of Douglasville, Georgia.

Ramos had committed felony battery and felony DUI charges in the past and was deported from the United States.

He is alleged to have reentered the United States illegally and found to be wanted during the traffic stop.

Ramos currently being held in the Putnam County Jail without bond on a Department of Homeland Security detention and removal order.

The driver was cited for following too closely and released.
