Gov., First Lady To Join Hoosier Children For Annual Tree Trimming

(INDIANAPOLIS) - This weekend, Governor Mike Pence and First Lady Karen Pence will welcome Hoosiers to the Statehouse for the annual tree trim and first Christmas at the Capitol, a holiday choral event featuring groups from across Indiana.

Friday morning, the Pences will join Hoosier children for the annual tree trimming, during which time Hoosier youth help to decorate the Statehouse Christmas tree with handmade ornaments. Governor Pence will also read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to those in attendance.

Later that evening, the Governor and First Lady encourage Hoosiers to come to the Statehouse to enjoy performances by choral groups at Christmas at the Capitol, an event presented by the Friends of the Indiana State Archives. Saturday afternoon, additional groups will perform. Both events are free for the public and will include refreshments for attendees.

Event will include performances by: Plainfield High School Belles et Beaux, the Logansport High School Swing Choir, the Hamilton Southeastern Royal Edition, and the Oak Trace Elementary Treble Choir

Saturday, December 14:

1:00 p.m. EST - Governor, First Lady to welcome Hoosiers and choral groups for Christmas at the Capitol event
Event will include performances by: the Canterbury School Chamber Singers, the Southridge High School Choir, the Irvington Community School One Voice Choir, and the Bella Voce Indianapolis Children's Choir
