(UNDATED) - Some parts of central Indiana have temperatures in the single digits and wind chills nearing 10 below zero.
The numbers will continue to fall.
Weather forecasters are saying lows will range from -4 to 1 degrees and with wind chills at -15 to -5 degrees. Please take precautions from the cold.
It will be cold all day with temperatures at 13 degrees around noon and highs near 18 degrees.
After the cold, there will be more snow.
A snow system is developing for Friday night and Saturday. Snow will start to fall late Friday evening and the steadiest snow will continue to fall through mid-day Saturday.
The early estimation on snowfall potential is 2 to 4 inches falling for Indianapolis and perhaps lesser amounts south due to a chance of snow mixing with rain on Saturday afternoon.
Next week will start out cold, but temperatures may actually swing above freezing Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecasters are saying colder than average and active weather pattern will last through the end of the year.
Thursday will most likely be the coldest morning for Indianapolis since February 2011. Thursday's high will only be in the teens in many places. The consolation will be sunshine in the forecast.
