CSX Train Collides With Motor Vehicle

(TERRE HAUTE) - WTHI reports that at approximately 1:58 p.m. Saturday, Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Indiana State Police and Otter Creek Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a minivan and a CSX Railroad train near the intersection of Evans Ave and Dwelling Rd.

The driver, 79-year-old Ray M Scheid of Terre Haute was transported to Union Hospital with head and leg trauma.

Initial indications show that Scheid was traveling westbound on Evans Ave when the northbound train struck the drivers rear section of the minivan.

Crossing warning bells and lights were functioning properly and all train warning indicators were functioning properly at the time of collision.
