Covert Drug Operation Leads To Three Arrests

Last updated on Wednesday, December 18, 2013

(COLUMBUS) - Three people were recently arrested after Bartholomew County Sheriff’s narcotics officers received information that lead them to believe that a package containing illegal drugs was going to be delivered, by a commercial delivery service, to a home in northern Bartholomew County.

Major Todd Noblitt, with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, says 61-year-old Diana Satterfield of Columbus was charged with dealing in marijuana, her 24-year-old grandson, Joshua Fox of Columbus, was charged with dealing in marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a syringe, and 20-year-old Phillip Thompson of Columbus was arrested on an outstanding Bartholomew County warrant charging that he failed to appear on violation of probation charges.

Noblitt says sheriff's detectives, with the assistance of Columbus Police K-9 Officer Branch Schrader and his partner Argo, were able to determine that a package destined for 2330 Farmstead Drive did indeed contain approximately two pounds of marijuana.

Late Friday afternoon, a sheriff's detective, posed as an employee of the delivery service, delivered the package while other investigators covertly videotaped the delivery. Moments later, undercover and uniformed deputies from the sheriff's office, with help from Columbus Police K-9, executed a search warrant at the home. Marijuana, pills, drug paraphernalia and money were seized from the home.
