Man Found Guilty In Death Of 1-Year-Old

Last updated on Monday, November 4, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man was found guilty Thursday of the 2012 death of his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son.

Ryan Worline, 29, was convicted of murder and neglect of a dependent in the January 2012 death of infant Jayden Noel.

Worline and then-girlfriend Chelsea Taylor, 20, told police they had been sleeping and awoke to find Noel blue and not breathing. But doctors at Riley Hospital for Children found the boy suffered from a skull fracture and a healing clavicle injury, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A forensic pathologist later determined Noel had died from a fatal head injury sustained as a result of blunt force trauma. The infant also had numerous, non-fatal external injuries to multiple areas of his body.

Noel's biological father said he had called Child Protective Services prior to his son's death after noticing blood and bruises on the infant's face during visits.

Taylor was also found guilty of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a class "A" felony.

Worline and Taylor are scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 15.
