Man Arrested After Leading Police On High-Speed Chase

Last updated on Monday, November 4, 2013

(HENRY CO.) - Police arrested a Whiteland man Sunday morning after they say he led law enforcement on a high-speed chase for 26 miles.

Brian Baran, 26, was arrested and preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement, fleeing, criminal recklessness and reckless driving with excessive speed.

Police say around 7:30 a.m., an Indiana State Police trooper was on Interstate 70 east near the 126 mile marker when he clocked a Chevrolet Malibu driving west on the highway going 111 mph.

The trooper tried to pull the vehicle over but the car continued to drive 111 mph and refused to stop. Greenfield police put stop sticks in the middle of the road at the Hancock County border line near the 106 mile marker. The car's tires blew and the car drove through a fence and onto a field. That's where he was arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail.
