Ex-Youth Baseball Treasurer Pleads Guilty To Theft

Last updated on Wednesday, November 6, 2013

(MOUNT VERNON) - The former treasurer for a southwestern Indiana youth baseball group has received a four-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.

Adam Bauman pleaded guilty Monday in Posey Circuit Court to eight theft counts stemming from the thefts from Mount Vernon Youth Baseball. A judge ordered the 34-year-old to repay $5,000 to the baseball programas a condition of his suspended sentence.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports court documents say Bauman using the group's debit card to make personal purchases and also made cash withdrawals totaling $2,900 between January and August 2012.

An affidavit states that during Bauman's time as the group's treasurer, its bank balance dropped from an $8,000 minimum to only about $45 at the time Bauman was removed.
