(EVANSVILLE) - A 79-year-old woman was struck on the back by an assailant who stole her purse in the parking lot of the east side Target store Wednesday.
Police say the woman had locked her car and was walking toward the store when she was hit from behind by a man who grabbed her purse off her shoulder. The suspect then ran toward Burkhardt Road and got into a small white car with another person driving it. The car then sped away around Biaggi's Restaurant.
Two witnesses saw what happened and provided police with descriptions. The victim said it happened so fast she didn't get a good look at the suspects who were white males.
The victim did not require any medical treatment.
