Man Pleads Guilty To Neglect After Injuring Two Girls

Last updated on Monday, October 7, 2013

(FORT WAYNE) - A northeastern Indiana man has pleaded guilty to neglect charges stemming from injuries sustained by his girlfriend’s two young daughters, one of whom was hospitalized with head injuries.

29-year-old Jason Morlan pleaded guilty Friday to neglect in exchange for prosecutors dropping a felony battery charge that accused him of inflicting the injuries on the youngsters.

The Journal Gazette reports that Morlan's plea agreement calls for him to be sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by three years of probation.

Court documents state that the case came to light when paramedics responded to a report of an unconscious 4-year-old girl at the couple's home. When she was examined at the hospital, they found her head injuries.
