Jury Set For First Gibson Murder Trail

Last updated on Saturday, October 5, 2013

(NEW ALBANY) - Lawyers preparing for triple-murder suspect William Clyde Gibson’s first capital murder trial chose five men and seven women from Dearborn County to serve on the jury.

The panel, along with five alternates, will be brought to New Albany and sequestered during the two- to three-week trial beginning Oct. 21. Floyd Superior Judge Susan Orth ruled that to ensure a fair trial, jurors would be chosen from a community outside the Louisville media market.

The prosecution, public defenders, Orth and two court employees spent four days in Lawrenceburg this week while the parties questioned potential jurors.

Gibson, 55, is accused of brutally slaying three women, two whose bodies were found in April 2012 at his New Albany residence. Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson is seeking the death penalty in those cases, but not in the third murder.
