Irsay Fires Back At Twitter Critics

Last updated on Tuesday, October 22, 2013

(UNDATED) - Jim Irsay posted two tweets overnight in response to some Twitter users who accused him of being drunk at the Colts-Broncos game.

The first said, "Actually working, sorry naysayers..I don't drink...haven't in over 15 years..I know when your unhappy or jealous it's easy to b mean-spirited."

The second tweet read, "I do pray for you unhappy,s***-slingers...who wants to live on a planet with those who don't like themselves..we want happy, kind people:)"

Coach Chuck Pagano praised his players after a hard-fought win against Peyton Manning and the Broncos Sunday night. He seemed to struggle to contain his emotions as he spoke about Irsay in the locker room.

"I don't think...if I don't have this guy behind me, and he's not there and what he did for me and my family and what he did for me along with everybody else and what he's done for every man in this room, past and present...I know, you guys know, but I know firsthand, because I'd have never made it out there without him. There's nobody that loves this team and nobody that loves you guys and would not do anything for any man in this room - any player former or present - than our owner, Mr. Jim Irsay," Pagano said, as players applauded.

"Jim, we love you and we thank you for everything that you give us. You give us every tool that we need to be successful and we got your back," Pagano said, handing Irsay a football.

"We got a long way to go this season and when it comes right down to it, it's about getting the win because we all know that we want to go get this," said Irsay, holding up his Super Bowl ring.

"Anyone who doesn't want more than one of these shouldn't wear a horseshoe. Because that's what it's about - wanting not only one, but more than one. Greatness, that's what it's about. Guys, thanks so much. It was really the greatest effort I've ever seen."

Those comments follow Irsay's remarks in an interview last week, where he seemed to criticize Peyton Manning for bringing just one Super Bowl championship to Indianapolis. He later back-pedaled from his words, saying he meant no offense to Manning. Manning, for his part, told reporters he'd spoke to Irsay since then and there are no hard feelings.
