Last updated on Thursday, October 3, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A former Perry Township deputy constable was charged with felony domestic battery and misdemeanor battery charges after he was accused in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

RTV6's Derrik Thomas reports that Johnny Williams, 45, was terminated from his position after he was taken into custody Monday night.

Police said Williams got into a fight with his girlfriend at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of West Michigan Street. Detectives said the argument escalated after Wiilliams' girlfriend accused him of cheating.

According to the police report, Williams' girlfriend said he hit her and caused "pain, discomfort, swelling and redness to her right cheek."

Marion County sheriff's deputies said children were present in the home during the fight and the arrest.
Williams had served as a part-time constable for three years.

He was being held on an $11,000 bail.
