(CORYDON) - Firefighters have rescued a woman whose car stalled out on a flooded southern Indiana road.
Indiana Conservation Officer Jim Hash tells The Courier-Journal volunteer firefighters waded into 2-foot deep water south of Corydon on Sunday morning and helped the woman to safety without incident. He says the responders believe the woman didn't realize how high the water was and thought her compact car could make it through what appeared to be a light ponding area.
National Weather Service data indicated more than 5 inches of rain fell across parts of southern Indiana during the 24 hours ending at 7 a.m. Sunday.
Indiana State Police say some motorists hydroplaned off Interstate 65 north of Seymour. The vehicles were pulled back onto the highway. No injuries were reported.
