Alligator Slows Traffic On I-69

Last updated on Monday, October 14, 2013

(FISHERS) - Something unusual was responsible for slowing traffic on I-69 Friday night: an alligator.

Fishers police said they were alerted to the possibility of an alligator walking along the side of I-69 near the 206 mile marker Friday night. Officers located the alligator, and notified a reptile rescue service in Strawtown.

A representative from the reptile rescue service responded and took custody of the alligator.

Police said they aren't certain how long the alligator has run wild or the identity of its owner.
