Accident Leaves Pedestrian Dead In Boone County

(BOONE CO.) - An accident in Lebanon leaves a 25-year-old man dead after being hit by a teenage driver.

The pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near I-65 Saturday night.

Police received a 911 call at 11:53 p.m. on Saturday that a person had been struck by a vehicle in the 1500 Block of south Perry Worth Road. This area is adjacent to I-65 on Lebanon's south side.

When officers arrived they found Keegan D. Stiver, 25, Indianapolis, had been killed from from apparent blunt force trauma.

He had been walking northbound along Perry Worth Road with a friend when he was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female. The victim's female companion was uninjured.

The initial investigation indicates that the victim was standing in the roadway when struck.

The area where the incident occurred is rural and there are no sidewalks or streetlights.

Why the victim and friend were on foot in the area, is under investigation.

It does not appear that alcohol use by the driver of the vehicle was a factor.

The accident is still under investigation.
