Woman Killed While Crossing I-465 Identified

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A woman fatally struck by a pickup truck on Interstate 465 Saturday evening has been identified.

Police said Melissa Simmons, 31, was killed after she crawled over the concrete media barriers and attempted to cross southbound lanes near the 38th Street exit around 8:19 p.m.

Simmons was pronounced dead on the scene by the Marion County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the pickup truck, 55-year-old David Sinclair, was not injured in the crash.

Indiana State Police continue to investigate the crash.
